Christy and the Rascals was specifically formed to play Jazz/Swing Music from the "Roaring 20s" through the 1950s. All band members are multi-instrumentalists capable of performing a wide variety of musical styles; however, Christy drew them together to concentrate on the vintage jazz standards. Their vocals stand out above the basic foundation of violin, guitar and bass, making them truly unique in today's musical climate.
Their repertoire of songs trace back to the "Hot Club of France" where Stephane Grappelli (violin virtuoso) and Django Reinhardt (guitar master) came together in the early 1930s. Great American Dance Bands were touring Europe at the time and musicians exchanged ideas which influenced the Continental Jazz Bands and vice-versa. The memorable melodies, supported with shifting rhythm guitar and bass patterns, allowed breathing room for vocal and instrumental improvisation.
Christy and the Rascals are currently booking for private parties, festivals, clubs and other venues or functions where people would appreciate the Swing Tunes of the past.
